Brief
I’ve been through multiple project phases – from understand the product vision and goal, research, prototyping, user testing to …..
I’m also collaborating with development team across the US, Ukraine, China, and Canada. Together, we’re shaping the new touch-less screen for electric boats.
The Problem
- Designing touchless screens in the early stages of the marine industry’s shift towards electric propulsion presents challenges, including the transition from analog to digital interfaces.
Transitioning from traditional and analog interfaces to modern, digital touch screens.
Understanding user behavior and preferences in the context of touchless interaction.
Addressing environmental factors such as lighting conditions and sea waves that cause movement, affecting the usability of touch-less screens.
Determining essential features and tools to be added to the admin dashboard for effective monitoring and control.
Main Objectives
With a focus on enhancing the user experience through innovative design and user friendly. This process involves a deep understanding of user behavior and preferences while also accommodating environmental factors, such as lighting and movement caused by sea waves, highlighting the complexities of adapting to this emerging electric era in maritime technology.
- Conduct user and market research.
- Analyze environmental factors affecting touch-less screen usage at sea.
- Identify technical requirements and constraints
- Competitor Analysis
Ideation
Develop initial concepts
Ideate on how to seamlessly integrate touchless technology into the marine environment, enhancing user experience while ensuring safety and reliability.
Prototyping and Usability testing
Create prototypes of the touch-less screen interfaces, ranging from low-fidelity to high-fidelity models, to test and refine the concepts.
Include considerations for environmental adaptability, such as responsiveness under different lighting conditions and stability amid sea movements.
Gather feedback and iteratively refine the prototypes based on user input and test results, focusing on improving intuitiveness and reducing potential frustrations.
Technical Development and Optimization:
- Work closely with engineers to ensure the technical feasibility of the touchless interface designs, optimizing for responsiveness, accuracy, and durability against marine environmental challenges.
- Implement adaptive algorithms or technologies that can adjust the interface based on environmental factors and user behavior.
